Gigsby Movers and Shakers Jan 1-15

By Baris on January 19th, 2010

Keeping tabs on the EDM industry is no easy feat, especially the latest artist popularity trends. Luckily at Gigsby we have some really talented ninjas who find true bliss in pouring over the latest artist trend data and analyzing those results till their blue.

As a recap remember that we’re taking recent data supplied by Last.fm and turning it into a simple easy to read summary showing who is on the uptick. Oh, and we created some Boxing inspired peer groups so no one gets the undeserved KO.

In the first Movers and Shakers of the new year, we are introducing two changes:

We will release Movers and Shakers twice a month moving forward. This is to reduce the impact of minor fluctuations on our stats so that the true fast-growers show. We also added the ultra light heavyweights – artists with more than 1 million listeners.

Here we go…

The ULTRA HEAVYWEIGHTS (1,000,000+ listeners):

In our new ultra heavyweight category, Daft Punk leads the pack closely followed by Royksopp and The Prodigy.

The Norwegian due Royksopp’s The Girl and Shit made its way into Pitchfork’s Top Tracks of 2009.

The HEAVYWEIGHTS (500,000+ listeners):

David Guetta continues to dominate his peer group with 2.67% increase in his listeners and a whopping 4.08% increase in plays. Here is the top 5 fastest movers for the past week:
