In this interview with Wax Tailor we get a different perspective on music production. A true self starter, Wax started his career in the Hip Hop scene. From there he quickly found his niche in incorporating various inspirations into his music and shows including cinema, scratching, beats and innovative instrumentals. Today he’s his own manager and producer, which he even admits is a big job.

What was your original inspiration for producing music?
“At the beginning one of the ideas I was searching for was elements for linking. Like making a story with different moves. I like the idea of having a slowed down tempo and a melody track and something with more energy, more hip hop and scratch. It’s important to find those links. Like when you’re building your movie, you have scenarios with different scenes.” (2:53-3:18)

How do you collaborate with your team?
“I’m my own manager. I’m my own producer. I know too much how it works to not have the control. It’s a big job and not so easy. I’m producing my own album and then I’m licensing it to various territories. I have a record label that I work with in France and Europe. Another one in Germany. I have one for the US and Canada and one for Japan and Australia.” (6:48-7:29)
