Over the last couple months, we’ve covered various angles on the great debate of 2010; wether an artist should give their music away for free or sell it. We’ve gotten differing opinions and recommendations on how to best distribute your music using either school of thought. For this post, we get yet another interesting take on the concept of free music from Richard Stallman, a “Freedom activist”, who pioneered the Open-Source software movement. (Without him Gigsby and many of the most popular internet services probably wouldn’t exist as they do today) Richard is most interested in creating a sustainable model that supports the Artists and has an interesting idea on how to make compensating artists easier for fans.
